UPIA Office Manager / Agent

The following full-time opportunity is now available at our Worthington, MN location:

Position Purpose:

The successful candidate will provide service and information to customers (both current and potential) as relates to their individual insurance needs and maintain a productive insurance office.


  • Prospect for new customers and referrals from existing customers.
  • Make presentations and close sales to increase agency volume.
  • Verify new policies and renewal policies for correctness
  • Process all applications, renewals, endorsements and claims for clients.
  • Keep customers informed about policy changes and re-quote coverage when necessary.
  • Review existing coverage and recommend changes when necessary to clients.
  • Attend company meetings and continuing education to keep licenses current.
  • Attend Bank and Insurance events
  • Review monthly report
  • Respond to customer questions and/or inquires via internet, phone, E-mail, and fax’s in a timely manner
  • Work with company underwriters on risk placement.
  • Take pictures and assemble necessary documents for new applications.
  • Project positive image in the community.
  • Perform office manager duties to ensure deadlines are met for all bookkeeping transactions.
  • Promoting sales through advertising.
  • Implement marketing plan for Insurance Agency
  • Supervise staff in performance of their duties, establishing work priorities and in achieving management initiatives.
  • Abide by all policies, procedures and regulations of UP.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specifications:

Knowledge of insurance products desired. Keep abreast of insurance law changes, policy coverage changes. Work flexible hours to service client’s needs. Ability to deal with all clients with varying degrees of understanding of the insurance products.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School degree required. Four (4) year bachelor’s degree in Business Finance or Marketing desired.
  • Previous insurance experience preferred or related sales experience.
  • Occasional day travel may be required for training/meeting purposes.
