UPFN Investment Representative

Location: MN - Spicer

The United Prairie Financial Network (UPFN) Investment Representative will develop new business in the securities and insurance business, actively solicit clients and prospects for business opportunities, and cross-sell to our bank and insurance services when appropriate.



  • Maintains knowledge of the financial and insurance markets including changes in legislation.
  • Fulfills duties in accordance with marketing the Strategic Plans.
  • Maintains knowledge of approved product lines and required business submission procedures.
  • Stays involved in local community networking groups to market UPFN.
  • Generates leads through social group networking, center of influence relationships, client and staff referrals and active solicitation.
  • Obtains appointments through active follow through with leads and prospects.
  • Effectively conducts client interviews using appropriate questioning to gather data and perform client inventory.
  • Performs analysis of a potential or existing client’s needs, concerns, and suitability to determine whether a beneficial solution exists.
  • Prepares proposals and/or approved product illustrations based on analysis.
  • Makes recommendations of appropriate securities and/or investment products based on the analysis performed, being sure to disclose all fees and charges and go over all necessary disclosure documentation.
  • Implements recommended financial solutions for client.
  • Works with centers of influence (attorney, accountant, etc) when requested by the client to ensure the effectiveness of the financial plan.
  • Maintains existing client base by consistently reviewing the client’s needs, goals, and objectives in comparison to their existing portfolio.
  • Provides on-going advice to existing clients regarding all facets of their financial situation.
  • Resolves service issues (finance related) for existing clients in a timely fashion.
  • Places trades in client accounts same business day as requested.
  • Actively markets UPFN to existing and potential clients through mailings, e-mails, and telephone calls.
  • Cultivates partnerships with UPB and UPIA staff and cross-sells their services when suitable.
  • Works with Administrative Assistant to execute seminars and client appreciation events.
  • Must adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations of the Broker/Dealer, FINRA, and the SEC.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by management.

A high degree of external and internal contact with people requiring excellent skills in both verbal and written communication; as well as a high level of professionalism. Must have a strong analytical capacity and a vast knowledge of financial markets, finance structures, and financial product solutions as well as being highly motivated with ethical sales skills.

Other Qualifications: 

  • Four (4) year Bachelor's degree in Business Finance or equivalent field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses required.  Series 7 preferred.
  • State Insurance Life and Health license required
  • Superior PC skills with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and use of the internet.
