Chief Banking Officer

Location: Mankato, MN

The Chief Banking Officer is responsible for contributing to the strategic planning & direction of the bank and overseeing customer relationship growth. This role will be responsible for managing the business lines and the staff that provide financial products and services for the bank’s customers. This position manages all customer facing departments; which includes commercial and agricultural loans and deposits, investments, residential real estate and other financial services.

Responsibilities:

  • Maximize loan and commercial deposit growth through effective planning, development, and implementation of lending strategies.
  • Identify and develop long-term strategies that will include initiatives such as portfolio mix, growth strategies, and market penetration objectives.
  • Partner with the Executive Management team to develop and implement appropriate lending products and services.
  • Effectively lead and support a team of banking professionals to achieve targeted goals.
  • Communicate and interface with other department and management personnel; providing periodic management reports.
  • Coach and develop team members.
  • Comply with various operating policies and procedures and various regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend new products or changes to features and functions that will help the bank remain competitive and profitable in the markets in which we conduct business.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have direct leadership responsibility of the Business Sales Director, Financial Network Program Manager, Insurance Agency General Manager, Market Presidents, and Retail Sales Manager.

As a leader, you will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/MBA in business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related field required.
  • 20 years of banking experience
  • 10+ years of management experience
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
  • Superior levels of professionalism, integrity and reliability
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Must understand the concepts of sales as they pertain to selling financial service products
  • Must comprehend all aspects of the credit process and credit decisions and hold team accountable to the bank’s credit standards
  • Demonstrated ability to form, develop, lead and positively motivate high-performing teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
  • Strategic management skills
  • Analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Tact, diplomacy and people skills

Travel:

  • Travel will be required to visit branch locations.
