Junior Mortgage Banker

Location: Mankato, MN

Provides service to customers and prospective customers seeking mortgage, real estate and construction loans. Operates under the supervisor of a more senior loan officer and may assist in handling larger, complex loans. Develops and maintains quality mortgage loan accounts which meet established lending guidelines and provide maximum profitability for United Prairie with a minimum of risk.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Solicits new loan business from potential new and existing customers.
  • Maintains product knowledge to offer best advice for the customer and keeps current on all investor programs, guidelines, bank policies and regulations.
  • Originates real estate loans for purchase by the secondary market. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • taking loan applications
    • inputting loan information into automated underwriting system for approval or manual underwrite if applicable
    • working with investors
    • working jointly and communicating effectively with the customer and the mortgage loan processor
    • preparing applicable loan documents
    • gathering necessary information and follow up on loan issues until file is purchased by investor.
  • Informs customers of services offered by other business units and refers them when appropriate
  • Develop, maintain and grow core relationships with realtors, attorneys, insurance agents, professional business work force members and personal acquaintances.
  • Represent United Prairie in the community through civic activity, service organizations and/or professional associations.
  • Responsible for maintaining customer loan files according to policies and procedures, compliance and regulatory requirements on a continual basis.
  • Apply collection practices to minimize risk as appropriate.
  • Manages assigned Residential In-House Loan Portfolio loans.
  • Compile and analyze all financial and credit information including adequacy of income and sufficiency of collateral in accordance with bank policy.
  • Prepare loan presentation for credit committee approval when necessary.
  • Manage loan portfolio including customer inquiries, collections, and any other correspondence as necessary.
  • Required to comply with the SAFE Act requirements, including successful initial and ongoing registration in the Registry to obtain and maintain your NMLS # within 30 days of employment.
  • Abide by all regulatory and compliance requirements for residential real estate lending.
  • Attend and complete necessary training as required throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales and customer service preferred
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Computer knowledge, including MS Office & Windows
