COVID-19 Update

April 3, 2020

During this tough time, we are so grateful to have great clients to serve. Our staff has been doing a lot of outreach to customers during this time. It’s been a really positive experience for both our team members, and the customers. Sometimes life gets so busy that staying connected is hard to do. This time is giving us all a chance to “reconnect” even though it may not be in person.

Our offices are still open and operating our normal hours during the Stay Home Minnesota order issued by Governor Walz as serving financial needs is deemed essential to our communities. Even though we may be doing things a little differently, we are still able to serve your needs. Our investment in providing technology to our staff and customers is certainly helping improve and maintain a seamless service connection whenever possible.

We are continuing to assess information that is being published almost daily by various government agencies in regards to relief for individuals and businesses. We’re all learning and growing in this experience together, and stay tuned for more information.

Assistance for COVID-19 Pandemic

United Prairie Bank has been serving our customers and communities for over 100 years, and we are here to provide support to you during the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Due to the financial hardships many may be facing as a result of this outbreak, we are prepared to act.

If you or your business should find yourself in a position of unusual hardship due the COVID-19 pandemic, contact your banker.

In addition, the SBA will provide up to $2 million in direct loans for assistance. Online applications for disaster loans are open to Minnesota businesses at the SBA website - click here

  • These loans can go towards working capital to meet needs including payroll, accounts payable, and debt payments that cannot be paid due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • This program can provide low-interest loans of up to $2 million to small businesses and private non-profits.
  • The current interest rate is 3.75% for small businesses. The non-profit rate is 2.75%.
  • These loans have long-term repayment options, up to maximum of 30 years.
  • These loans are provided directly by the SBA.

For the health and safety of our customers, employees and communities, we suspended lobby access at our branch locations on March 19th. The safety and health of our employees and customers is, as always, our top priority in this time. As we watch the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic situation evolve, we will follow safety guidelines outlined by government health organizations.

As of Thursday, March 19th, United Prairie will be closing lobby hours for our Bank, Insurance, and Investment locations until further notice. We will continue to serve our clients in the most responsible settings as possible as follows: 

  • Banking services will be available through our drive-through, walk-up, phone and by appointment-only until further notice. See the list below of additional banking service opportunities.
  • Insurance agents, Financial Advisors, individual bankers, and support staff will be available through phone, email, or by appointment-only.
  • Safe deposit box access will be by appointment-only. 

Not only is your health a priority, but also your financial security. We are here to help you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or concerns, or if you need assistance.

We have additional tools to help you continue to manage your banking if you prefer to stay at home or work.

  • Online Banking and Mobile Banking – pay bills, make a check deposit, check your balance, and pay people
  • Remote Deposit and Mobile Deposit for Businesses – deposit checks remotely
  • ATMs, Night Drop, Bank by Mail
  • Telebanc or call your local banker, agent, or investment professionals

March 16, 2020 Update

United Prairie is continuing to stay on top of the current situation. Our priority continues to be serving our clients, and maintaining the well-being of our staff and customers alike.

All of our banking, insurance and investment locations are currently open for normal business hours at this time. Any of our clients who prefer not to do business in person are welcome to explore use of our online and mobile services, or reach our helpful staff members on the phone.

Our leadership team continues to keep informed of changes in the current environment and recommendations from health and government agencies. We will continue to post updates as any changes arise.

As the news of the spread of the Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continues to bring uncertainty, it’s important that we all maintain our values as a strong community in the face of hardship.

We at United Prairie want you to rest assured that we are committed and prepared to continue to serve you, and to keeping our employees and customers’ safety and health a top priority.

United Prairie leaders are continuously monitoring information updates from federal and state health organizations to stay informed of updates and recommended public safety actions. We are well prepared for these situations. United Prairie has plans in place to help ensure our services continue as seamlessly as possible for our clients. Our critical systems and staff can maintain operations to support you in safe and secure settings.

Current precautions

  • United Prairie locations are taking extra precautions to clean and disinfect public shared spaces within our facilities. Staff and customers have access to hand sanitizing products.
  • Staff members who are handling cash will be using rubber gloves to limit their contact as best as possible.
  • Staff members are asked to limit meetings and travel and are encouraged to utilize technology to maintain communications with each other.
  • All are asked to follow health precautions such as
    • Staying home if feeling sick, or experience flu-like symptoms
    • Practicing safe hand-washing, and avoiding touching their faces
  • Following social distancing when possible

Serving You

  • Our locations are open and available to serve your needs per our normal state of business at this time. We are here to serve you in person or over the phone at our locations during normal business hours.
  • United Prairie leadership will continue to consider the safety of our employees and customers and communicate any updates. Visit for the most current information.
  • We understand you may prefer to manage your financial business from home at this time, and we have services that can fulfill those needs. Online banking, for both business and personal, provides you with access to your account balances, transaction information, and more. You can pay bills, transfer money and pay other people through our suite of simple online services.
